The Painted Closet
 

Following Lady Drury’s lead, I adopted the practice of recycling and repurposing the work of previous artists. Lady Drury’s paintings recombined borrowed motifs; I do the same, though my sources are different. Instead of emblem books and devotional painting, I look to art history (specifically 1960s America—Pop Art, Conceptualism, Minimalism, Post-Minimalism.) Like her, I build from what already exists, turning fragments into a new uncertain order.
